| Fire Door Upgrades |
The doors you already have can often be turned into fire doors, approved by your council. We supply the products and the certificate you need for upgrading your existing doors to a fire rated standard.

Also, if you already have doors with character, there is no need to compromise with style! Our fire protective paints come in white or as a clear varnish. It is easy to apply and it is good value.
It is generally the room side of the door that needs to be fire protected. How to upgrade your door to fire rated status is of course down to the door. A solid wooden door with at least 8 mm thick panels might only need two coats of intumescent paint or varnish to be upgraded to 30 minutes fire rating. It could cost you as little as £ 15 per door.
After applying the fire protection products to your door and once we have made sure it is done correctly we can issue a certificate stating the doors new fire status.
Nordic Fire Protection supply intumescent paint in white or clear, the products are water based. Water based means the paint is easy to handle and less smelly, easy to clean up and fast drying. Intumescent paint reacts to fire, when the heat is on the intumescent graphite particles react and the paint starts expanding to form a thick, protective crust on the door surface.
In a character home the old doors are often made to measure and a feature in the house. With a few easy steps you can give them invisible protection and achieve a fire rated status of 30 minutes. In addition to the intumescent paint we can provide intumescent card for the door panels if they are too thin to be protected with paint alone. We can also advice on how to make stained glass windows or clear glass panes fire rated.
In order to make sure there is no gap around the door our intumescent smoke and fire seals protects the frame in case of fire.
