FIRE PROTECTION PAINT

When building near a fence, converting a house to flats or simply to get peace of mind our fire protective paints and varnishes is a good solution.

We can provide two types: Fire retardant paint/varnish or intumescent paint/varnish. Both types are water bourn, resulting in less smell and easier cleaning.

Fire retardant paint/varnish is designed to stop spread of flame. It is used in spaces where people need to exit quickly in case of fire. It doesn’t ignite easily, and if the source of fire disappears it stops burning. Fire retardant paint satisfy Class 0, Class 1 under British fire regulations. It has been tested to B s1 d0 on a number of wood substrates.

One litre of flame retardant paint covers 10-14 m2 (subject to how rough the substrate is) and needs to be applied in a minimum of two coats followed by a top coat. It comes in white or clear.

Intumescent paint/varnish reacts to heat by forming a thick protective crust on the substrate. It is used for upgrading doors to fire doors, protecting ceilings in flats and other wood areas requiring protection. The intumescent materials in the paint are small graphite particles that start to expand at a given temperature, normally about 120 degrees. Intumescent paint protects the underlay from burning and insulates from heat. Our intumescent paint comes in white or clear and it is water based, meaning it is well suited for indoor use. It is tested to 30 and 60 minutes of fire protection.

1 litre of intumescent paint covers 8-10 m2 an needs to be applied in a minimum of two coats, followed by a top coat. It can be used on an already painted surface without stripping away old paint. We sell water based intumescent paint suitable for wood, metal, plasterboard or any wood based substrate.
