ACOUSTIC COVERS AND INTUMESCENT GASKETS
All Electrical Products to comply with revised the 16th Edition IEE Regulations, Doc B of UK Building Regulations. Important: without gaskets, the wall is only rated 5 minutes protection. Acoustic covers (illustrated below) have been tested by BTC and comply with the requirements of ‘Robust Details’

DESCRIPTION
An intumescent gasket that fits into BESA boxes, universal conduit boxes, and socket or switch boxes designed to comply with British Standards and IEE Regulations.
USE
Envirograf® intumescent gaskets should be fitted into the back of all steel electrical boxes in partitions and walls. Where steel conduits pass through fire walls, each side must be terminated by a BESA box or universal conduit box fitted with Envirograf® intumescent gaskets. There is no restriction to cables but, in the event of fire, the gasket seals off the box, stopping the passage of fire and smoke from one compartment to the other. Gaskets for dry lining boxes are fitted inside, at the top and bottom of the boxes. Gaskets must also be used in switch/socket/cooker boxes, etc, where cables pass back to back through a wall, or where any dry lining box or metal box is used in a hollow partition.
PERFORMANCE
Tested to BS476 Part 22 (1987), achieving 181 minutes integrity in steel boxes and 71 minutes in dry lining boxes in hollow walls. Also tested at VNE to European Standard EN1364-1 (1999).
